I started exploring yoga in 2018 during my Erasmus studies in Germany. At that time I was dealing with insomnia and anxiety and the practice helped me find my peace of mind. Since then yoga became a regular part of my life and I got fully immersed in yogic philosophy, reading scriptures, and learning about human anatomy.
I started sharing what I have learned with my friends and family which naturally led me to do my teacher training in 2022. I especially enjoy deconstructing poses to their functional units and teaching them in sometimes unconventional ways. I teach dynamic Vinyasa flow classes in which we build up toward a peak pose in a safe and structured way, and meditative Yin yoga, where we dive deep into poses and stay still with our thoughts.
As I am currently finishing my PhD, my yoga practice is there to take away some of the pressure. And somewhere along this journey, I discovered my passion for science communication. Not just in the field of plant science where I am doing my research but also in the field of yoga and meditation. I use my social media to share interesting scientific research about yoga in an easy and understandable form of weekly blog posts called “Science Sundays”.
I see the yoga mat as a place for exploration and learning but also having fun (and occasional bad jokes).
